Q:
I don't think my son is ready for Kindergarten. Our school district is saying I HAVE to enroll him. What are my options? Is this true?
Our preschool teacher suggested that he stay another year in preschool because he needs more time with small motor skills and he is immature. His birthday is June 6 so he is too old to do the "transitional kindergarten". The school district said we HAVE to enroll him. If we choose to enroll him in a more academic preschool or private kindergarten they said next year they will enroll him into first grade. That enrollment is done by age. What are my options? Can they do that? I hear conflicting stories and everyone puts down the public school system.
