Q:

Does this sound like aspergers?

My 5 1/2 year old boy has a very hard time showing empathy and showing he cares about other peoples feelings. He acts selfish and does not want to share any of his things unless its on his terms. He has some strong anxieties as well. He loves to cuddle with Mom and Dad and a couple other close family but other than that, does not seek cuddling or affection from other people. He has a sister who I know he loves and loves to play with but their play is usually just being silly all day, which he loves. He just doesn't want to share and take turns like his other friends. He has a very close friend and other friends from his class (young 5's) who he enjoys seeing and running around with. He makes eye contact, can talk good, and can tell me when he needs something. He also needs a lot of direction and time to get things done. Does this sound typical or not typical for his age?

As a parent, I always "go with my gut".  If you feel that you are concerned about your child's development then connecting with your child's physician or local school developmental teams could be suggested.

Good luck-
