What the Expert Says:

Hello and thank you for writing to JustAsk!

Each school district has different guidelines as to the number of paraprofessionals needed per class of special education students and sometimes in the case of mainstreamed students.  Also, the intensity level of service may deem the number of people who assist children within a classroom. Please check with your local school district special education office for details specific to your locale.

Good luck!
