You have posed a very interesting question - about subtitles on television. Often you hear that reading captions/ subtitles can improve language acquisition and reading in children with delays.  This may be true in your circumstance, as well.

I am not sure why you are asking about reading rate, but I suspect it may have something to do with college entrance exams. If that is the case, then practice books, tests and preparatory classes could be helpful!
