Q:
Starting Prek or K4 at 3yrs old?
Our daughter has a late birthday, she's 3.5 and is just now allowed to enroll in a preschool program.  However, she is academically ready (knows her ABC's, writes her name, knows her address, colors, shapes, counts to 100, etc.) and is more mature than those in her age group (concentrats and can sit at a desk, follows directions, interactcs with old children).  I have a private school who will test her for K4/PreK.  Should I have her tested and have her skip preschool?  How important is preschool?  She does attend Sunday School and other activities with children her own age.

Okay no one can really tell you that because it all depends on where you live and what preschool it is cause all preschool owners are not the same so you would have to search that with your state and country.

Preschool is essentially a daycare. Having your daughter tested would probably be best. I had the the problem, I was too young in august but my birthday was in October. When I was in middle school I had my driver's license. However, the other students thought I was older because I had flunked a grade somewhere along the and was forced to stay back. This caused a lot of heartache for me and I even reached a point where I no longer wanted to go to school. I would say, try your best to get her in Kindergarten now.
