Q:
As a student who has been home schooled, how do I make sure I get into a great college?  I hear some colleges don't accept home schoolers.

Home schoolers are just as likely, and in some cases, even more likely to get into the top schools because schools value the independence and diligence required to embark in self-study.

Here are things that help:

1. Document your course of study well.  If possible enroll in a community college or take a few courses just to get a few grades on your record.

2. Do well on standardized tests.  Standardized tests become more important for home schoolers because colleges want to know if you can handle the academic rigor.

3. Believe in yourself and be confident.  Colleges want applicants who are confident in their ability to succeed.  College want a wide array of students, and as a home schooler you bring a unique and valuable set of skills to the college.

Hope this helps!
