Q:
Why the sudden change to have kids below 3rd grade test as well?
I thought TCAPS were for 3-8th. I found out this year my 1st grader ( apparently K-2 students as well) will need to take these tests. I heard nothing about this until a couple of weeks ago when my son brought home a letter about it. What is the purpose of these tests? Is it really for the benefit of the student and/or parents is it another tool to evaluate teachers with? Also, when was this decided. If there is an article about the changes I would love to see a link to it.
