There is no uniform answer to the teenage employment question.  It is so situational as some students can handle school and working while others cannot.  I would suggest that students who work still must build in time for homework/studying.  If work interferes with doing well in school, the student's number one priority, getting a good education, should always come first.

I was a working teenager that ending up quiting school.
On the other hand I had my son start working at 16 just to buy clothes and gas money.
Answer: It is a very good idea to allow a teenager to work "part time", so they learn the value of money.
