What the Expert Says:

Dear Walida,

Kids engage in bullying for various reasons.  There is new evidence which states that the "mean kids" in middle and high school tend to actually be more popular. They also bully because "they can", meaning that they know they can get away with it.

i think most teens get involved with bullying because of things that happen at home. i used to get into fights with people just for the attention because at the time my parents were getting a divorce and it wasn't a clean divorce. it was terrible. i also think that teens get involved with it because of their other friends. Their friends bully and thy feel like if they don't do it back then they will loose their friends. I'm a junior in high school and i see it everyday. I hate having to listen to it and watch it every time i enter the hallway in between classes. Its not a great way to start your high school career and I can guarantee that the bullies aren't doing as well as they should be doing in their classes. and the real problem is is that schools aren't doing much about any of this.
