newbie-on asks:

is term of endearment 'sweets' can set back mental growth to a 14 year old

We have 2 daughters. One is 11 and and one 14. Our 14, my husband who is over protective keep calling her sweets. she is undergoing counselling and soon. she doesnt like to talk about her feelings. Shes gone through a lot of change like most teens, but she is very sad, and truly it is making me even more sad. meanwhile, I cant tell my husband that I feel that calling names undermine her responsibility to grow up and in my opinion a set back in maturity and self assurance. he calls her sweets any time and never heard him call her by her name. I think its making her weaker for some reason.
