Do you think the typical school day should be eight hours instead of six?

In the article, "What's to Gain with a Longer School Day?", authors Christopher Gabrieli and Warren Goldstein share advantages of adding two hours to the traditional 6-hour school day.

What do you think? Should districts add more hours to the school day? Why or why not?

Although there is data suggesting that longer school days "may" result in improved student achievement, the data it is not conclusive. I support more research to assess the benefits in student achievement and the cost. In education, we sometimes invest in significant innovation without doing thorough research.
