Hi, I think it's wonderful that you and your daughter are getting ready for the start of the new school year and planning ahead. Here's a resource center with lots of information to help you and your daughter with your preparations: http://www.education.com/topic/back-to-school/

If you have a choice in the school you can send your daughter to, here are some additional factors to consider in selecting the right school for your daughter: http://www.education.com/topic/how-to-choose-school/

If your daughter will attend public school, some school districts assign students to schools. For instance, in my daughter's school district, residences are zoned for particular schools, and if you don't like the school your child is assigned to, you must apply for a transfer months in advance of the start of the school year to go to a different school. Check with the district for your residence to see what their policies are with regard to school enrollment. If you don't know which district to contact, search SchoolFinder using your city, state and zip code to find local schools and school districts:  http://www.education.com/schoolfinder/

If your daughter is able to attend a school that does offer lockers to 5th graders, here's a fun project to get her excited about the start of school and her new locker:

If the school doesn't offer lockers, you might check out some alternative ways to organize her school supplies in this info center on Education.com: http://www.education.com/topic/back-to-school-supplies/

Good luck - I hope your family has a great school year!
