What the Expert Says:

There is a great book that you should check out called Words Their Way by Donald Bear.  It will walk you through different activities that you can do with your child starting on and working through 5th grade.  The author explains the stages of learning to spell as well as activities.  This is research based and many parents have found it very helpful and easy to use at home.

Whatever worksheet or program you use with your child, please make sure it is based on learning spelling patterns.  That has we learn to spell so it stays with us as we get older.

If you need other ideas or activities to help your child become a good speller, please feel free to contact me directly.

You can create some activities yourself.  Use the kinder sight words list, type them in a large font and cut them apart. Use card stock if you want to use them more than once, or laminate them - if you have access to a laminator.
