Hi Deb8.....

"Education in America" is a great topic in that there are so many different things you can write about.  Personally, there are two topics that I've always been interested in.

1.  Does offering different types of "public" school enhance or harm the education in the US?

In addition to the regular public schools, there are alternative public schools which are not part of the neighborhood schools but one can apply to it.  There are also charter schools and magnet schools. How do these schools play a role in educating American students?

2.  Should "Education in America" begin in elementary school or preschool?  Many years ago, children's first formal education starts in first grade.  Very few children went to kindergarten and if they did go, kindergarten was only 3-4 hours each morning.  Now, children start going to preschool (not daycare but preschool) as young as 2 1/2 years old.  Does starting school early enhance academic achievement for Americans?  Is preschool necessary as part of the "Education in America"?

These are some thoughts that come to mind.

Hope this helps!
