What the Expert Says:

Is it a new behavior or has it been going on for a while?  If new, you may want to discuss it with your child's regular health care provider to rule out an endocrinological problem, such as thyroid disease or diabetes.  If it is an ongoing issue, your child's health care provider may suggest an evaluation for attention disorder.  Make an appointment asap, before school starts, so that your child can be helped to progress in school.

Best regards.
