IS THIS YOUR CHILD?? IF SO HAS ANYTHING CHANGED DRASTICALLY IN YOUR LIFES OR HAS HE BEEN AROUND CERTAIN PEOPLE OR PERSON THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED HIM HARM IN ANY WAY?? TAKE HIM TO HIS PEDIATRICIAN SO THEY CAN EXAM HIM OR ATLEAST TALK TO A COUNSELOR ON WHAT IS HAPPENING. I AM SORRY BUT NO TYPICALLY DEVELOPING CHILD JUST OUT OF NOWHERE DECIDES TO BE LAZY AND START DEFECATING ON HIMSELF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT MAYBE  impacted bowel - encopresis??

Is there a new baby in the house or has a friend had a baby?  Maybe he's regressed to get some attention.  Encopresis may be due to an emotional disturbance or a physical one (impaction due to extreme constipation, for example).  Maybe he was constipated and he was in so much pain he is scared to go to the toilet; maybe there is something scary about going to the toilet for him (one of my sisters used to be scared to go to the bathroom at night because she was afraid of the dark). He should be examined by a doctor but this shouldn't just be to rule out a physical reason.
