Q:

Five year old can NOT take being bullied anymore.

My niece has been bullied in school for some time now she is FIVE years old the school has done nothing about it. It had gotten to the point last week she ran away from her own SCHOOL because she could not take it anymore. Now the school will not let her back until she gets help! She has missed 1 ½ weeks of school they should at least send a tutor to her. My sister did not know who to turn to for help so she went to social services. Any suggestions what she should do to help her in this matter?

What the Expert Says:

Seeking assistance from social services was a good idea on your sister's part. She might also look at contacting the school board in her area. Most school have started developing a Bullying Policy. The school board should be able to help her know and understand these policies.

It is important for your sister to also talk with her daughter about setting up a safety plan for her. Who can she go to at school when she is feeling uncomfortable. A teacher or the school counselor even the school nurse.
