National College Fair FAQs
How much does it cost to attend?
FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC, NACAC's college fairs allow students to interact with admission representatives from a wide range of postsecondary institutions to discuss course offerings, admission and financial aid requirements, college life in general, and other information pertinent to the college selection process.
What happens at a college fair?
College fairs are an exciting chance to talk to the people in the know. Admission representatives from a variety of colleges are all gathered in one place, just waiting to answer your questions.
But it's easy to get caught up in the crowds and confusion. Soon you're criss-crossing the room (or many rooms), stopping at any booth that catches your eye or seems popular. When that happens, you end up with lots of pretty brochures, but not a lot of clear impressions about which colleges you may be interested in.
Making the most of a college fair means planning your strategy before you enter those double doors. Learn more.
When are the fairs held?
National College Fairs are held in the spring and fall.
Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs are held in the fall.
Schedules:
- Fall 2009 National College Fairs Schedule
- Fall 200p Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs Schedule
What can I do as a student, parent or counselor to prepare for attending a College Fair?
If you are planning to attend a college fair, think about the following questions:
- Do you want to attend a two- or four-year institution? Co-ed or single sex?
- What size school do you want to attend?
- What programs of study are you considering?
- How far from home do you want to go?
- Do you wish to participate in any specific extra-curricular activities or athletics?
Here are some other items to think about.
You can also download and print this checklist to bring with you to the fair.
