Resumen de La Lección

Esta lección se enfoca en una de las estructuras más sencillas que usan los escritores: orden cronológico, o el arreglo de eventos conforme al orden en que ocurren.

Hay muchas maneras de narrar una historia. Algunas historias comienzan en el centro y regresan al comienzo; otras comienzan al final y cuentan la historia en reverso. Pero la mayor parte del tiempo, las historias comienzan al principio. Muy a menudo los escritores comienzan con lo que pasó primero y luego nos dicen lo que pasó después, adelante hasta el final. Cuando un escritor cuenta una historia en este orden, desde el principio hasta el final y en el orden en que pasan las cosas, nos está contando la historia en orden cronológico. La cronología es el arreglo de sucesos o eventos en el orden en que pasan.

Cronología y Transiciones

La mayor parte de lo que se lee está organizado cronológicamente. Periódicos, revistas, apuntes de una reunión, explicaciones de procesos y mucho más están organizados de esta forma. Por ejemplo, observe el siguiente párrafo del boletín interno de una compañía:

Afterward, the third award was given to Karen Hunt for Most Inspiring Employee. Finally, President Lucas ended the ceremony by giving everyone a bonus check for $100.

In fact, the thieves left behind nothing but a stack of old Home Decorator magazines and a can of pork and beans. The robbery was reported by Mr. Blank's neighbor, who found Mr. Blank unconscious in his doorway. Apparently Mr. Blank was so shocked by the robbery that he fainted. His neighbor immediately called an ambulance and then the police. Mr. Blank is now staying with relatives and is offering a reward of $25,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the thieves.

El orden cronológico es muy importante especialmente cuando se trata de procesos. Si usted no ejecuta los pasos en orden cronológico, no podrá obtener los resultados que desea.
