Prep for the Pint-Sized Rigors of Kindergarten

Hopscotch and connect-the-dot coloring pages are fun ways to teach your child to recognize numbers. And you can help him associate spoken numbers with real objects with this fun game:

1. Label 11 plastic cups from 0-10
2. Give your child 55 small objects (such as cotton balls, pennies, or beans)
3. Ask your child to read the number on each cup and put in the matching amount of objects. Remind her to count out loud!
