2. Preconventional Morality: Exchange of Favors

Preschool kids, most elementary school students, some junior highers and a few high schoolers are in this stage.

A child in this stage embraces the motto "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." She determines right and wrong based on how it will affect her and makes decisions based on how it will please authority figures such as teachers, parents and popular peers.
