A Malala-Inspired Activity: Listicle Blog Posts
Blogging is a great way to share ideas with many people all over the world, and it is good practice for opinion writers. Students can practice sharing their experiences or ideas in the form of a listicle blog post, just like the influential Malala Yousafzai. Malala is a Pakistani young woman who fought, at a very young age, for girls’ rights to an education. She secretly wrote a blog to share her experience fighting for an education under the Taliban. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts in advocating for an education for all girls, becoming the youngest person to receive the honor. In this activity, students will start by learning more about Malala’s life, and then will be guided in choosing a blog topic they are passionate about.
