Bastet's Cuff

What You Need:

  • Recycled cardboard tube
  • Scissors
  • Yellow tempera paint
  • Blue oil pastel
  • Glitter glue

What You Do:

  1. Have your child paint the outside of the cardboard tube with yellow tempera paint. Allow the tube to dry completely.
  2. Help her to cut the tube along the seam, creating an open cuff.
  3. Ask her to embellish her Egyptian cuff with a blue oil pastel. Blue stone and lapis lazuli were both commonly used in Egyptian jewelry. According to Egyptian myth, the gods and goddesses had hair that was made of lapis lazuli.
  4. Encourage her to use drops of glitter glue to create jewels on her cuff. Allow the glue to dry overnight.
  5. She can now wear her Egyptian jewelry and imagine herself as an Egyptian goddess!
