Introduction

Candy Multiplication Game
  • Tell students that today they will begin learning about multiplication.
  • Tell students that multiplication can be thought of as repeated addition of equal groups.

Beginning

  • Share student-friendly definitions and images of key terminology, such as multiplication, repeated addition, equal groups.

Intermediate

  • Ask students to explain the concept of multiplication to a partner. Provide a word bank of key terms and phrases they can use as they share their thoughts. (e.g., factor, product, multiply, times, equals)
