Learning Objectives
Students will find the quotients created with four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- To introduce the lesson, begin with reviewing the meaning of division vocabulary words such as dividend, the number to be divided, divisor, the number that divides into another, and quotient, the answer to a division problem, by using the Division: Finding the Quotient worksheet.
- Display the worksheet on the board or write an example.
- Have students identify the 3 components of the problem: dividend, divisor, and quotient.
- Students can go through a few of the examples and identify the parts if necessary for comprehension.
- Explain to students that today they are going to find whole number quotients of problems using whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors.
