Teach your students to add and subtract time using number lines. Your class will be gladly moving backwards and forward to the minute solving for related word problems.

Introduction
(5 minutes)
Show your students a number line paper strip that goes from 1 to 60 by increments of 1, curl it up into a circle and ask them, “In what ways might this be related to a clock?”
Have students turn and tell a neighbor their ideas. Then allow classmates to volunteer their thoughts, or something they overheard as you write down any academic terms related to time.
