Help students learn the academic vocabulary and symbols used to record the results of comparing two three-digit numbers. This lesson can be used as a stand-alone activity or prior to Greater Than, Less Than: Comparing Three-Digit Numbers.

Your students will learn when to use less than and greater than and how to differentiate the two symbols in this lesson. They will have fun playing the role of the Less Than and Greater Than alligators!

Help your students make sense of the greater than, less than and equal to in this interactive lesson! Your students will have opportunities to compare either two-digit or three-digit numbers.

Subtraction is a lot more than just “take away.” In this lesson, students develop an understanding of subtraction as comparison by creating and interpreting data from bar graphs.
