Build a solid foundation in number sense with this lesson all about the friendly number 10! Students will count with both fingers and base-ten blocks. This lesson can be used alone or with the lesson plan Place Value Concentration.

Let your students explore different strategies to figure out the missing number in an equation. Use this lesson on its own or as a support lesson for Missing Numbers: Math Review.

Let’s start building numbers! Just as building skyscrapers is a visual representation of mathematics, students will use the visual representation of base-ten blocks to add—or build—onto a two-digit number.

Take your understanding of factors one step further! Use this lesson to classify factors as prime and composite numbers while creating factor trees.

Every student can be a magician after this lesson in mentally adding and subtracting by 10. No previous magic training required!

Why make things harder on ourselves? Teach your students to decompose numbers to make math easier! Use this as a stand alone lesson or a pre-lesson for Decompose to Multiply: 6, 7, 8, and 9.
