This project leads to an understanding that a whole may be built of smaller parts that fit and work together and provides an introduction to basic tools.

Check out this fun science fair project idea for 1st grade: a solar eclipse model that demonstrates total, partial, and annular solar eclipses.

In this experiment, students will create their own version of coquina, a sedimentary rock thatâs formed by seashells and sand, cemented by seawater minerals.

In this science fair project, students learn how pressure can make the minerals in a rock line up in the same direction and form bands and foliation.

This science fair project idea explores how length affects the weight a bridge can hold.

In this science fair project, students discover how sedimentary layers form as sediments like mud, silt and sand settle over time.

Can you dig it? This science experiment isn't for kids who like to keep their hands clean.

Children have a naturally inquisitive mind. Foster their curiosity with a walk through an autumn field or park to answer age-old “why” questions. As you walk with your child, you can encourage them to ask questions.

This fun experiment provides a concrete and visually striking illustration of photosynthesis.

This project demonstrates the correspondence between the volume of water displaced by a submerged object and the volume of the object displacing it.

In this sound experiment children listen for differences as they tap on a bag of air, a bag of water, and a wooden block held up to their ears.

In this project children practice the scientific method while playing with puffy paint.

This project explores whether plants can live and grow when "watered" with juice, soda, or milk.

In this project combining nature, art, math, and science, children make rubbings of leaves then observe shapes and structures and sort the leaf images.

Find out whether we can create motion in a dish and as a result, create a wonderful and colorful show.

In this science fair project, young children discover what happens when two fluids that have different densities get together.

In this science fair experiment, children demonstrate the relationship between the amount of stuff and the amount of pressure in a closed system.

This classic children's game-connecting two cups with a string-demonstrates sound's ability to travel through air vs through a solid.

This engaging project encourages young children to practice and refine the important scientific skills of sorting and classification.

In this air pressure science experiment with a balloon and a jar, children will use heat to create a partial vacuum and suck a balloon into a jar.

Using a toy race car kids create a visual model of the Doppler Effect.

Study the life cycle of the common blowfly as it relates to forensic investigation. Record the first time you see flies, maggots, and eggs.

This science fair project idea demonstrates that plants give off water.

In this project children discover, identify, and sort seeds from a variety of fruits and vegetables

In this science fair project, kids observe the expansion of liquids when frozen and determine if some liquids expand more than others in the freezing process.

This project examines whether people's taste perception is influenced by what they see.

This science fair project idea teaches that time always passes at the same rate and nothing we do in our daily life âreallyâ affects how fast it moves.

This science fair project idea investigates how the shape of an object affects drag.

This science fair project idea investigates if webbed feet help a duck (and others) swim.

Plants need water to grow. In this project we learn how plants transport water from their roots to their leaves
