In this science fair project, young children will become aware of and have the opportunity to experience the four basic tastes: sweet, sour, salty, and bitter.

Help your kindergarten or first grade child use his creativity to make a beautiful magnetic patterned structure while discovering the wonders of magnets.

This project explores whether plants can live and grow when "watered" with juice, soda, or milk.

This project is a vivid, concrete introduction to the basic but important idea that plants need sunlight and water to grow.

This simple project makes young children aware of their sense of smell and its capacity for providing them with information about their world.

In this fun guessing game, your child uses his sense of smell and taste to figure out what is in the container. Here's how to play:

Make scented sensory cloud dough. Add it to a sensory table, activity station, or put it in a baggie for extra at-the-park entertainment!

Use this fun activity to make an optical illusion picture that helps your kindergartener explore the sense of sight, and sharpen his observation skills!

Hold a magnet marathon! Explore the power of magnets with your kindergartener in this entertaining and simple science game.

Learn how different types of soil affect how animal tracks form in this experiment!

Here's a math, science, and social studies activity: help your kindergartener become a "coin archaeologist" by examining how different coins look and feel.

This fun experiment provides a concrete and visually striking illustration of photosynthesis.

Create your very own scented hand sanitizer that will help your child to keep those nasty germs at bay!

This project demonstrates the correspondence between the volume of water displaced by a submerged object and the volume of the object displacing it.

In this sound experiment children listen for differences as they tap on a bag of air, a bag of water, and a wooden block held up to their ears.

In this project children practice the scientific method while playing with puffy paint.

Help your kindergarten scientist predict and observe as she explores the science of smell...and have a great time doing it, too.

In this project combining nature, art, math, and science, children make rubbings of leaves then observe shapes and structures and sort the leaf images.

Learn all about balance and motion as your child designs a corn maze!

Find out whether we can create motion in a dish and as a result, create a wonderful and colorful show.

Invite your kindergarten scientist to conduct this color mixing experiment to discover which primary hues make a rainbow of secondary colors.

In this science fair project, young children discover what happens when two fluids that have different densities get together.

In this science fair experiment, children demonstrate the relationship between the amount of stuff and the amount of pressure in a closed system.

This classic children's game-connecting two cups with a string-demonstrates sound's ability to travel through air vs through a solid.

This engaging project encourages young children to practice and refine the important scientific skills of sorting and classification.

In this air pressure science experiment with a balloon and a jar, children will use heat to create a partial vacuum and suck a balloon into a jar.

Using a toy race car kids create a visual model of the Doppler Effect.

In this project, create and examine garden mulch to find out what critters live in the messy, muddy layers just above the soil.

This project leads to an understanding that a whole may be built of smaller parts that fit and work together and provides an introduction to basic tools.

Children have a naturally inquisitive mind. Foster their curiosity with a walk through an autumn field or park to answer age-old “why” questions. As you walk with your child, you can encourage them to ask questions.
