In this lesson, students explore absolute value with and without a number line, compare the absolute values of two numbers, and apply their understanding of absolute value to real-world contexts.

Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their informational essay drafts by correcting errors in conventions and mechanics. They’ll use a checklist to guide this critical step in the writing process.

This lesson will help students understand how to solve one-step addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division inequalities using inverse operations, as well as how to graph inequalities on a number line.

Students will continue their informational writing project by creating an essay outline prior to drafting.

Students begin their informational writing process by gathering information through research. They will use a graphic organizer to record important information and sources and reflect on how to present the information.
