Worksheet

Analyze Characters: Rainy Day Theater

Don’t let the rain bring your mood down; read this passage to see two characters have very different reactions to a rainy spring break! Students will read the cheerful story, then answer two questions about the characters. They will need to pick words that describe a character and support their choices with textual evidence; then, they will explain how one character’s feelings changed from beginning to end in the story.

This worksheet was designed for third, fourth, and fifth graders learning to analyze texts and make inferences. Students will need to draw conclusions from the story and summarize character growth in their own words. They’ll also work on the vital skill of backing up their claims with quotes from the text!
