Worksheet
Analyzing Allusions
Don’t let allusions be your white whale; master them with the help of this middle school worksheet! Students will be asked to read six sentences, each containing an allusion, and match them to the meaning of their allusions. Then, they will explain the meaning of two more allusions in context in their own words.
This worksheet was designed to familiarize seventh and eighth graders with some common allusions from mythology, history, and literature. Learners can practice using context clues to determine the meaning of figurative language and gain a better understanding of how allusions are used.
