Animals Changing Their Environment: Ocean

How do ocean animals affect their environment? In this worksheet, students will determine how coral polyps, sea snails, sea turtles, crabs, and octopuses change their environment in the ocean to meet their needs. Learners are asked to draw a line to match each animal with the way it impacts the ocean, such as by digging holes, making shells, or building a coral reef.

Designed for kindergarten scientists, this activity introduces students to the different ways in which organisms can interact with their environments. Understanding how animals use and change their habitats will support learners as they begin exploring food chains and the interactions within ecosystems.
