Beginning Sound Swap #1

Create new CVC words by switching letters in this phonics worksheet! First, students will read each CVC word, then follow the instructions to swap its beginning sound with the new letter. Then, young readers will find the matching picture and paste it at the end of the row. The letter students need to swap is underlined to guide students in their efforts.

Created for a kindergarten curriculum, this worksheet will help strengthen phonemic awareness by having students isolate, manipulate, and swap phonemes. These are important steps in developing reading and spelling skills, as students need to be able to identify letters and their corresponding sounds to decode new words.
