Beginning Sounds Crosswords #2

Identify the common beginning sound between words like cat and can in this worksheet for young readers! Students will use the picture clues to fill in the missing beginning sounds. Then, they’ll cut and paste the mystery pictures in the spaces corresponding with the new word they made.

This phonics worksheet was designed for kindergartners and first graders learning to identify individual sounds in words. The ability to isolate beginning phonemes can help students become stronger spellers and make decoding unfamiliar words easier. Practice reading and writing CVC words is also foundational for literacy, preparing students to encounter more complex words.
