Worksheet
Character Comparison
Compare and contrast characters with this clever graphic organizer! Students will identify two characters in their reading and analyze each one’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, and actions. Then, learners will use their notes to name three traits that best describe each character. Lastly, students are asked to compare and contrast the characters using evidence from the table. There are helpful prompts in each section to guide students’ efforts.
This worksheet will introduce fifth graders to character analysis and encourage them to think critically about the thoughts, feelings, and actions of characters in literature. This practice will lay the foundation for deeper analysis of characters, plots, and themes in the future as students learn to look beyond what’s written.
