Worksheet
Combine Sentences With Appositives #3
Use appositives, a type of noun phrase, to combine sentences in this grammar worksheet! To start, middle-grade learners will read a short explanation of appositive phrases and how to determine if the phrases are restrictive or nonrestrictive. Then, students will combine each pair of sentences by rewriting one as an appositive phrase.
By using a more structured practice, students can see where and how appositives can be used to combine sentences. This worksheet also allows students to see what information is considered nonessential when writing. Using appositives can strengthen students’ writing by providing sentence variety and additional detail.
