Worksheet

Comma Splices

Let’s slice through comma splices to eliminate run-on sentences! In this sixth- through eighth-grade worksheet, students will first review proper use of commas in complex and compound sentences, then get an explanation of comma splices. Learners will read the provided sentences and determine whether they are complete sentences or comma splices. If they are comma splices, students will then correct them to be complete sentences.

Comma splices are an incredibly common error in writing, and this worksheet will help students both identify and fix them. Students can apply their new abilities to their own future writing assignments.
