Worksheet

Compare the Strengths of Magnetic Forces #1

Determine which magnets have the strongest force in this third- and fourth-grade worksheet! The strength of the magnetic force between two magnets depends on the size and distance of the magnets: the bigger or closer together the magnets are, the stronger the force will be. In this activity, students will study pairs of magnets and decide which pair has a stronger force. Learners are asked to write their reasoning for each answer. Then, students must order three pairs of magnets from weakest to strongest magnetic force.

This worksheet will build students’ knowledge of magnetic forces. Many factors can affect a force’s strength; familiarity with the effects of size and distance in relation to a magnetic force can support students as they learn more about the behavior of magnets and other forces.
