Counting Syllables: Winter

How many syllables are in the word mittens? What about evergreen? In this worksheet, early readers are given 12 winter-themed words and images. Students will count out the number of syllables in the word, then circle the number below the image. Each word contains one, two, or three syllables.

This worksheet will help kindergarteners and first graders strengthen early literacy skills. Students will identify individual syllables and understand how they can be combined to create words, which builds phonological awareness in young readers.
