Crack the Code: Tricky Rhymes

Learn to rhyme at any time with this engaging worksheet! For each of six words, students will write a word that rhymes, using the word bank to help. Then, they’ll use the letters they wrote from each highlighted box to crack the code and reveal the last rhyming pair. Finally, students will need to write their own sentence using this rhyming pair.

Ideal for first and second graders, this worksheet is a great way to show students that words can rhyme even if they have different spelling patterns. This practice can build students’ phonemic awareness as they consider the sounds that different spelling patterns make. It can also make students stronger readers who can decode complex vowel diphthongs and digraphs.
