Cut and Match: Divide Two-Digit Numbers Using Area Models

Practice using area models in this hands-on division worksheet! In each problem, students will divide a two-digit number by a single-digit number by using an area model. Learners must cut out the partial quotients at the bottom of the page and paste them into the correct box. Then, students will add the partial quotients together to find their final answer.

Geared toward fourth graders, this activity will build students’ understanding of multi-digit division. Area models are a great way to structure work and show that equations can be broken down into partial quotients, which prepares students for using the standard algorithm.
