Worksheet
Decompose to Subtract From Three-Digit Numbers
Practice decomposing numbers in this second-grade subtraction worksheet! In each problem, students are asked to subtract a two-digit number from a three-digit number. Using decomposition, learners will break apart the two-digit number to make the equation more approachable. The first problem has been completed as an example.
Decomposition can make it easier for young mathematicians to subtract multi-digit numbers. This strategy will also reinforce place value concepts and strengthen students’ mental math skills. As learners become more confident in their subtraction skills, they can handle larger numbers and more complex equations with ease.
