Worksheet
Dot the Syllables #3
Count the syllables of six unique words in this worksheet for kindergarteners and first graders! For each image, learners will say its name out loud, then count the number of syllables. Students are then asked to show the number of syllables in each word by coloring in the matching number of circles.
Learners must think about vowel sounds and the spelling of a word to determine its syllables, which builds phonological awareness. As students become independent readers, they can use their knowledge of syllables to break longer, unfamiliar words down in order to read them.
