Worksheet

Dot the Syllables #4

Count the number of syllables in words like pumpkin and strawberry with this kindergarten and first-grade worksheet! To start, students are given six different images. Learners must sound out the name of each item, then count each syllable. Then, students will fill in the circles to show the correct number of syllables.

Young learners will build foundational reading and phonics skills as they count the syllables in each word. Identifying syllables can help build phonological awareness and prepare students for decoding longer, unfamiliar words. This exercise will also prompt learners to think about vowel and consonant sounds as they determine how many syllables each word has.
