Edit the Spelling: Double Consonants

Double your knowledge of double consonants in inflectional endings! Students will read a brief introduction that explains when to double the last letter when inflectional endings are added to a word. Then, they’ll read each sentence, circle the word with the -ed or -ing ending, and decide whether the word is spelled correctly. If it isn’t, they’ll rewrite the sentence and fix the word. 

Designed for first and second graders, this worksheet is a great choice for students working on spelling words with inflectional endings.
