Worksheet
Evaluating Expressions: Find the Imposter
Spot the odd one out in this seventh-grade algebra worksheet! In each problem, students will need to evaluate the four expressions with the given value for the variable. Three expressions will have the same value, but one will be different—the imposter! Learners will work with integers, exponents, parentheses, and more as they evaluate each expression.
Evaluating expressions is a vital skill for middle-grade mathematicians, as it lays the foundation for more difficult concepts in algebra. Learners must know how to substitute variables and follow the order of operations as they work with multi-step and multi-variable expressions. This practice also guides students in self-checking their work, as only one expression can be the “imposter” in each set.
