Worksheet

Fall Spelling Words: Dot the Sounds

Practice sounding out and spelling fall-themed words! To start, students will figure out how many sounds are in each word from their spelling word list. Young readers will use a dot marker or crayon to fill in the corresponding number of pumpkins. Then, students are asked to write the word next to the pumpkins. Any spelling word list can be used to complete this exercise.

Created for first and second graders, this worksheet helps build foundational reading and writing skills. Identifying individual sounds in words can strengthen students’ phonological awareness and help students encode words, or spell words based on their letter sounds.

Continue practicing with the other seasonal worksheets: Winter Spelling Words: Dot the Sounds, Spring Spelling Words: Dot the Sounds, and Summer Spelling Words: Dot the Sounds.
