Finish the Story: The Cold Pond

Enjoy a chilly day with a pair of animal friends in this reading comprehension passage! Learners will first read the short story about Duck and Pup going to a frozen pond. Then, they will need to think about what might happen after the story ends and draw it in the blank space at the bottom of the page. 

This worksheet was designed for first and second graders working on reading comprehension. Students will not only practice understanding the literal meaning of the text, they’ll also learn to use the context of the story to make inferences and predict what could reasonably happen next.
